Gen 6 Glock - For a long time, the GLOCK G46 was a concealed weapon and could be obtained through government tenders. For the first time, the Austrian manufacturer offers a gun with a rotating drum and mounting system. We tested the new rifle of the German state police of Saxony-Anhalt. Read on to learn how to behave at the shooting range!
The G46 is GLOCK's answer to the German police's specific requirements for a service rifle. This, of course, came a little too late, as most German states adopted the new generation of service pistols. However, GLOCK managed to score at least one point in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt (see our article). About 8,600 G46 pistols will be delivered there by 2021. The story of the RT police at that time is deliberately written, it remains the best international "class leader" from Austria.

The G46 also has front skid steers, as well as right-hand rack stops.

This is a special needs accessory that has so far failed the GLOCK, the gun can be fired without pulling the trigger. Not a huge drawback for professional shooters after a security check, the police may see it differently. At the very least, you can take a training course on the trigger used to shoot. It also shows the G46's slide mechanism, which caused a lot of discussion when the first pictures of the G46 were made. An off switch was immediately suggested, but in reality it was clearly, if not emotionally, protective. In fact, the gun can only be cut after the towel is pulled back. Therefore, for example, an accident in a dress is completely impossible. To lower the gun, you need to use a small lever on the left side of the handle, which is also used online with the safety of the hand.
Truly new territory for GLOCK can be found when the gun is broken. The G46 is based on a rotary bolt, while other pistols from the Austrian manufacturer use the Browning-SIG-Petter locking system. But it has nothing to do with the details of special needs. According to GLOCK, this principle has been considered for a long time because it allows you to get a lower discount. In the past, there were some manufacturers that tried automatic systems in rifles, such as B&T TSP, Colt All American, Beretta 8000 Cougar or Mauser M2, all of which disappeared from the market. Currently, the Italian Beretta PX-4Storm and Slovak Grand Power K100 are still available.
Compared to the G19 (left), it's easy to see how the lower barrel can accommodate the slower action.
Although inventor John Moses Browning had already patented the revolving rifle in 1897, the Roth-Stair 1907 was the first "mass" produced rifle with a revolving barrel. A pre-set trigger, like the GLOCK's, can also be found there. This is a very interesting rifle that proves the limited production capabilities at the time. The Roth-Stair pistol certainly comes full circle in Austria. By the way, rotary action pistols are said to be more accurate because the barrel doesn't move or recoil like the Browning-SIG-Petter system, but just a continuous motion. This process is said to revolve around high-end clothing, especially if the surface or binding material is not well chosen. According to the manufacturer, both the lock and the locking device are of the highest quality. According to GLOCK, the Ulm Proof House certification shows that the three pistols, each with 10,000 rounds of high-quality ammunition, have shown no problems (if any) such as cracking, cracking or wear, except for incomplete cycling. only 5 stops).

Anyone shooting the G46 for the first time probably won't be overly impressed with its trigger characteristics. A look at the TriggerScan tells us that we need a weight of 137, 56 oz / 3900 g and about 0.59" / 15 mm of travel to break the trigger. But unfortunately, the spec requirements, with a resistance of at least 30 N, are about 104 oz / corresponds to a pull weight of 2950g. According to RT, it should also be between 0.39"-0.59" / 10-15mm of travel, at least for the first shot. We are on the subject, the recoil material is at least 0.157 "/ should be 4 mm. It remains to be seen if this makes it easier for the user to hit the target or if the gun is safer to handle. This is a rhetorical question for manufacturers or consumers who should take it seriously. As an option, GLOCK also offers the G46 with a pull weight of 88.18 oz/2.5 kg and a shorter trigger travel.
Although the GLOCK 46 may seem a little complicated, it has been managed as carefully as possible according to the GLOCK philosophy. Thus, each new one from Deutsche Wagram consists of 37 parts and thus 3 more than the G19. By the way, if you want to expand on G46 and its process, you can take a closer look at published patent EP 3179193A1. We calculated an index of 0.014" / 0.36 mm for the impact of the car on computerized copper with a camera measure offered by Triebel company, with an almost perfect application in the center. By the way, TR shows a value of at least 0.011" / 0.3 mm, maximum 0.007" / 0 2 mm.

The G46 is very similar in size to the G19, so the magazine holds 15 grams. Attract people quickly through long retention. The highly abrasion-resistant NDLC coating (Diamond like Carbon), which became standard in the 5th generation, can also be found in this service. For left-handers, the ejection button is reversible, and the slide stop can be found on either side, just like the GLOCK Gen5 pistol. The 3.9"/100mm long barrel features the new GLOCK Marksman Barrel (GMB) specification, which promises high accuracy. The pre-Gen4 rifle, which previously had its characteristic spear shape, is now offered in a round shape. Our test rifle featured a solid with illuminated dot sights. came with steel sights.

The first connection to the shooting range was made at the birthplace of the G46, the GLOCK. Following an invitation to Deutsche Wagram, which began with a special instruction, we were taken to the shooting gallery. Here we were able to shoot the G46 and G19 with a few RUAG Action 4 bullets, and of course the G46 felt quieter to shoot. The 0.9oz/26g extra weight compared to the G19 may not be the reason. Apparently, changing the grids has a positive effect on firing behavior. When I got home, the real test came. Since the G46 is definitely a special rifle, we chose a range of 15 meters using a sandblaster for proper testing. 7 loads were used this time, including 4 factory confirmed rifles. At 0.94”/24mm in diameter, the RUAG Action 5 shot the best results out of two 5-round groups with a powerful 94 gr bullet. Second place in the direct test stayed the same: RUAG Action 4 and SeCa cartridges both proved to achieve a base of 1.3"/33mm. Followed by an 89g Male Quick Defense at 1.49"/38mm. The highest energy of all tested cartridges was achieved at 511 J. The average size of all loads is 1.53"/39mm. We've had no failures with the G46 even on other powerful models.
GLOCK is perhaps the most unique and important German-made TR-Guide that has spared no expense or effort in creating a special rifle. Of every word
